Cursive Font Generator

How it works

Unicode's Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block contains a script alphabet and a bold script alphabet, and the generator maps each of your letters across by a fixed offset: capitals shift to the range starting at U+1D49C for cursive and U+1D4D0 for bold cursive, while lowercase letters shift to the ranges starting at U+1D4B6 and U+1D4EA. The light cursive alphabet has a quirk: eleven of its letters were already encoded decades earlier in the Letterlike Symbols block, where characters like the script capital H (used in physics for the Hamiltonian) and the script lowercase e lived on their own. Unicode never duplicates a character, so those eleven positions were left reserved, and the generator substitutes the original Letterlike characters: the capitals B, E, F, H, I, L, M and R, and the lowercase e, g and o. The bold cursive alphabet was encoded in one complete run, so it has no gaps and no substitutions. Anything that is not a basic Latin letter passes through untouched.

Worked example

Type the word Calculate, the default. The capital C is the third letter of the alphabet, so it maps to the third character of the script capitals, U+1D49E. Each lowercase letter shifts from its own base: a becomes U+1D4B6, l becomes U+1D4C1 and t becomes U+1D4C9. The final e is one of the gap letters, so instead of a reserved codepoint the generator substitutes the Letterlike script e, U+212F, and the whole word renders as 𝒞𝒶𝓁𝒸𝓊𝓁𝒶𝓉ℯ. In bold cursive there are no gaps, so every letter maps by plain offset and Calculate becomes 𝓒𝓪𝓵𝓬𝓾𝓵𝓪𝓽𝓮. Copy either version and paste it into a bio or caption: the styling travels with the text because it is the text.
