This tool converts text and numbers you type into small superscript or subscript characters, the kind used for footnote markers, mathematical exponents such as x squared, ordinals like 1st, and chemical formulas such as H2O. Unlike bold or italic formatting applied by a word processor, the output is made of real Unicode characters, so you can copy the result and paste it anywhere plain text is accepted, including social media bios, usernames, forum posts, and chat messages that strip out normal formatting. Type or paste your text into the input box and the tool converts it instantly, with no need to click a button first. You get two results side by side: a Superscript version, with each character raised above the line, and a Subscript version, with each character dropped below the line, and a Copy button sits above each box so you can grab whichever one you need in a single click. Because Unicode only defines superscript and subscript forms for digits and a limited set of letters, some letters have no small equivalent; where that happens, the generator leaves the original character in place rather than dropping it, so your text stays readable even if a few letters are not converted. Numbers and the most commonly used letters convert reliably, which covers most everyday uses such as maths notation, ordinal numbers, and simple chemical formulas.
Superscript characters sit above the line, like the 2 in x squared, and subscript characters sit below, like the 2 in H2O. This generator replaces each character with its Unicode small version, so the result is plain text rather than formatting. That is why you can paste it into places that strip styling.
Unicode provides superscript and subscript forms for digits and many letters, but not every letter has one. Where a character has no small form, the tool keeps the original so your text still reads clearly. Numbers and common symbols always convert.
