This calculator works out your exact age in whole calendar months from your date of birth, along with the tidy years and months breakdown and the total in days and weeks. Months are the natural way we measure the youngest years of life: a baby is six months, then eighteen months, long before anyone counts them in years, and clinics, childcare and growth charts all track age this way. Months matter for grown-ups too, from tenancy and loan terms to study periods and work anniversaries, so a clear count of completed months is often more useful than a rounded number of years. You enter your date of birth and the calculator counts the number of full calendar months between then and today in New Zealand, adding a month each time the day of the month comes round again, and leaving any extra days out of the month count so nothing is rounded up early. It shows the same age split into years and months, which is how ages like two years three months are usually spoken, and gives the total in days and weeks alongside. Because it counts real calendar months rather than dividing days by an average month length, the answer lines up exactly with how birthdays and monthly anniversaries actually fall.
Counts complete calendar months between your birth date and today in New Zealand. A new month is added when the day of the month comes round again; leftover days are not rounded up.
The calculator takes your full years since birth and multiplies by 12, then adds the number of whole months since your most recent birthday. If today's day of the month is earlier than your birth day, the current month is not yet complete, so it is not counted. That gives your age in complete calendar months, which it also shows split into years and months. The total days figure is the actual calendar day count between the two dates, including every leap day, and the weeks figure is that day count divided by 7. Counting real months this way matches how monthly anniversaries fall, rather than dividing days by an average month of about 30.44 days, which drifts out over time.
Take someone born on 15 June 1995. As at 2 August 2026 they are 31 years and 1 months old, which is 31 times 12 plus 1, giving 373 whole months. Across those months they have lived 11,371 days, or 1,624 whole weeks. A new month would be added on the 15th of the coming month, when the day of the month next matches their birth day.
