This salary calculator converts a wage or salary figure into every other common pay period, so you can compare job offers, check a payslip, or see what an hourly rate really adds up to over a year. You enter an amount, the period it applies to (hourly, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, or yearly), and your usual hours per week. The calculator converts everything to an annual figure first, then breaks it back down into six results at once: hourly, daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, and annual pay. That makes it easy to see, for example, that a $70,000 salary at 40 hours a week works out to roughly $33.65 an hour and $1,346 a week. All figures are gross, meaning before tax, ACC and other deductions come out, so a job advertised at a given salary or a payslip showing a given hourly rate can be checked directly against these numbers. The daily figure assumes a five-day week and the annual figure assumes 52 weeks a year, so actual take-home amounts can shift slightly with public holidays and leave. Change the hours per week to see how your working pattern affects the hourly rate without changing the salary itself. This tool covers gross pay only; for take-home pay after PAYE, ACC levies, KiwiSaver and student loan deductions, run the result through the PAYE Calculator instead.
Gross, before tax. Based on 52 weeks a year, 5 work days a week.
Everything is converted to an annual figure first, then divided back into each period. The annual amount is the hourly rate times your weekly hours times 52, or the stated weekly, monthly, or yearly amount. Weekly is annual divided by 52, fortnightly by 26, and monthly by 12.
A $70,000 salary at 40 hours a week is about $33.65 an hour, $1,346 a week, $2,692 a fortnight, and $5,833 a month, all before tax. Changing the hours per week changes the hourly rate without changing the annual salary.
