Anniversary Calculator
This anniversary calculator tells you how long it has been since a date that matters to you, and counts down to the next time it comes round. Enter the original date, a wedding, the day you got together, a work start date, the day you moved into your home, or any milestone, and the calculator shows the number of complete years since then, the date of your next anniversary, and exactly how many days you have to wait for it. It is the easy way to answer the questions that come up every year: how many years has it been, which anniversary is coming next, and how long until we celebrate. The tool counts complete years, so it shows the anniversary you have already reached rather than rounding up early, and it works out the next anniversary as the next time the same day and month fall on or after today. It also adds up the total number of days since the original date, which is a fun figure for a big milestone or a card. Because it uses the New Zealand date for today, the countdown is always current for wherever you are in the country. Use it to plan a celebration, book something in advance, remember the date on a card, or simply satisfy your curiosity about how far you have come. Complete years are counted, so the figure is the anniversary you have already reached. The next anniversary is the next time the same day and month fall on or after today's New Zealand date.
How it works
The calculator counts the number of complete years between your original date and today. If this year's anniversary has already passed, the next one falls next year; if it is still to come, it is later this year. The days until then is simply the number of days between today and that next anniversary date, and the total days since is the full count of days from your original date to today. Because the anniversary that is coming up is always one more than the complete years already behind you, ten full years means your eleventh anniversary is next.
Worked example
Say your original date is 20 June 2015. As of today's New Zealand date that is 11 years of complete years, which means your 12th anniversary is the next one to celebrate. That next anniversary lands on 20 June 2027, which is 241 days away, and in total 4,142 days have passed since the original date. Change the date above to see the same breakdown for any milestone.
