Weighted Grade Calculator

This calculator works out your final grade from a set of assessments that each carry a different weighting, the way most courses and papers actually mark you. A simple average treats every piece of work as equal, but in reality a final exam worth half the marks counts far more than a quiz worth five percent, so to know your true standing you have to weight each grade by how much it is worth. The method is to multiply each assessment grade by its weight, add those products together, and divide by the total of the weights, giving a weighted average that reflects what really matters. You enter up to five assessments, each with its grade as a percentage and its weight, and the calculator returns your weighted grade. The weights do not have to add up to a hundred: enter only the assessments you have completed to see your grade so far, or all of them to project your final grade. To work out what you need on a remaining assessment, fill in your completed marks and experiment with different scores for the one still to come until you reach the overall grade you are aiming for.
