Product Qualified Leads (PQL) Calculator

A product qualified lead, or PQL, is a free user who has reached a meaningful milestone inside your product and has shown real buying intent through their behaviour rather than a sales conversation. This calculator turns two simple numbers, your total signups and the count of users who became product qualified, into a clear PQL rate so you can measure how well your product led growth motion is working. You enter the number of signups for a chosen period and the number of those signups that hit your qualification bar, and the tool returns both the qualified count and the PQL rate as a percentage. Founders, growth marketers and product managers across New Zealand SaaS teams use this to size their qualified pipeline, compare cohorts, and decide where sales should focus first. A healthy PQL rate depends on how strict your qualification criteria are, so define the bar before you measure, for example activating a key feature, inviting a teammate, or crossing a usage threshold. To get reliable figures, keep the time window consistent across periods, count unique users rather than events, and review the rate monthly so you can spot the effect of onboarding changes. It also pays to track the downstream conversion from PQL to paying customer, because a high PQL rate that does not convert often signals a qualification bar set too low. Pair this with your activation and trial conversion numbers for a full picture of the funnel. The calculation runs instantly in your browser, so you can test different qualification thresholds and signup volumes without touching a spreadsheet, and use the result to set realistic targets for the quarter ahead.

PQL rate = product qualified leads / total signups. Estimate only, not financial or tax advice.

How it works

The PQL rate is the number of product qualified leads divided by total signups, shown as a percentage. The qualified count is simply the PQLs you entered. A higher rate means more of your signups reach your qualification bar.

Worked example

With 1,200 signups and 180 product qualified leads, the qualified count is 180. The PQL rate is 180 divided by 1,200, which is 15.0 percent.
