How Business Days Are Counted

A business day is any day that is not a Saturday, Sunday, or public holiday. When legislation or contracts refer to "working days," they typically mean business days. The start date is usually not counted (the count begins from the next day), but this can be configured in the calculator.

This calculator uses NZ national public holidays and optional provincial anniversary days. Actual observed dates for some holidays (Christmas/Boxing Day/New Year transfers) follow the Holidays Act 2003 rules. Always verify critical legal deadlines with your legal advisor.
