World Clock and Time Zone Converter NZ
This tool shows the current time in 24 major cities worldwide alongside New Zealand, updates every second, and handles daylight saving automatically so you never have to work out an offset by hand. The World Clocks tab lists each city with its live time, today's date, a day or night badge (early morning, business hours, evening or night) and, for overseas cities, how many days ahead or behind it sits relative to New Zealand; a search box filters the list to the cities you need. Switch to the Converter tab to work out a specific time: enter a time and date, pick a from city and a to city from the dropdowns, and the calculator returns the converted time, the day it falls on, and the UTC offset for both locations, handy for scheduling an email, call or flight arrival. The Meeting Planner tab takes one proposed time in your own city and instantly shows what that looks like in Auckland, Sydney, Singapore, Tokyo, London, New York and Los Angeles, flagging whether it lands in business hours, evening or overnight for each so you can spot a workable slot before sending a calendar invite. Below the tool you will also find New Zealand's NZST and NZDT dates, typical hour differences from key trading partners, and why those gaps shift through the year as countries change their clocks on different dates.
New Zealand time zones
New Zealand uses NZST (UTC+12) in winter and NZDT (UTC+13) in summer. Daylight saving runs from the last Sunday in September to the first Sunday in April. The Chatham Islands are 45 minutes ahead of the main NZ time zone year-round.
Key time differences from New Zealand
Sydney: 2-3 hours behind NZ. Singapore and Hong Kong: 4-5 hours behind. Tokyo: 3-4 hours behind. London: 11-13 hours behind (a 9am Monday Auckland call falls between 8pm and 10pm on Sunday in London). New York: 16-18 hours behind. Los Angeles: 19-21 hours behind. The widest gaps apply while New Zealand is on NZDT and the northern hemisphere is on standard time, roughly November to March. The narrowest apply while New Zealand is on NZST and the northern hemisphere is on summer time, roughly April to September. NZ remote workers often find the best overlap with the US is Auckland late afternoon, which falls in US morning the previous calendar day.
Why offsets change through the year
NZ, Australia, Europe, and North America each start and end daylight saving on different dates, so the gap between any two cities shifts by an hour for a few weeks each year. The clocks above use your browser's built-in IANA timezone data and handle these transitions automatically.
