Batting Strike Rate Calculator
This batting strike rate calculator works out how quickly a cricketer scores, measured as runs per 100 balls faced. Enter the runs scored and the balls faced and the calculator divides one by the other and multiplies by 100 to give the strike rate, then converts it into runs per over so you can picture the tempo. Strike rate is the natural partner to the batting average: the average tells you how many runs a batter makes before getting out, while the strike rate tells you how fast those runs come, and the two together explain why a limited-overs opener and a Test number three can both be valuable in very different ways. The tool works for any format, from a Twenty20 blitz where a strike rate over 150 is prized to a one-day innings where 85 to 100 keeps the score ticking and a Test knock where a lower rate can still be an anchor. Players, coaches, scorers and fans use it to track an innings, a season or a career across school, club and representative cricket. It uses the cricket definition of strike rate, not the bowling strike rate or any baseball measure, so enter runs and balls faced and read the result as runs per 100 balls.

How it works
Strike rate expresses scoring speed independent of how long the innings lasted. Divide the runs by the balls faced to get runs per ball, then multiply by 100 to read it as runs per 100 balls, the standard cricket figure. Multiplying the runs per ball by six instead gives the runs per over, a handy way to sense the tempo against the required run rate. If no balls have been faced the strike rate is undefined, because you cannot divide by zero.
Worked example
A batter makes 75 runs from 50 balls. Runs per ball is 75 divided by 50, which is 1.5. Multiply by 100 and the strike rate is 150.00, meaning they would score 150 runs if they faced 100 balls at that pace. Multiply the 1.5 runs per ball by six and that is 9.0 runs an over, a rapid Twenty20 tempo. The same 75 runs off 90 balls would be a strike rate of about 83.33, an anchoring one-day pace.
