What is my take-home pay in New Zealand?

Take-home pay is what actually lands in your bank account after all compulsory deductions come off your gross salary or wage, and it is the figure that matters when budgeting, comparing job offers or working out what you can afford. In New Zealand your take-home pay is your gross pay minus PAYE income tax, the ACC earners levy of 1.75%, and any KiwiSaver contribution and student loan repayment, plus the Independent Earner Tax Credit added back in if you qualify. PAYE is charged at 10.5% up to $15,600, 17.5% up to $53,500, 30% up to $78,100, 33% up to $180,000 and 39% above that for 2026/27, with KiwiSaver deducted at 3.5% by default and student loan repayments at 12% of income above $24,128 where they apply. For example, on a $70,000 salary the income tax comes to about $13,221 and the ACC levy about $1,225, leaving roughly $55,600 a year, or about $1,068 a week, before any KiwiSaver or student loan comes out. To see your own figure, use the PAYE and Salary Calculator below to enter your pay and any KiwiSaver or student loan, check the take-home pay by salary table to compare income levels, or use the Income Tax Calculator to see the tax alone. These are indicative figures based on current rates and may change, so check your payslip or IRD for your exact deductions.
