How much of a New Zealand salary you actually keep after PAYE income tax, the ACC earners levy and the Independent Earner Tax Credit, for the 2026/27 tax year. These figures are computed with the same engine as our PAYE calculator, so they match the tool to the cent.

How these figures are calculated

PAYE income tax uses the 2026/27 brackets: 10.5% up to $15,600, 17.5% to $53,500, 30% to $78,100, 33% to $180,000, and 39% above. The ACC earners levy is 1.75% of liable earnings, capped at $156,641. The Independent Earner Tax Credit is included where the salary qualifies ($24,000 to $70,000, abating above $66,000). KiwiSaver and student loan are not deducted here, since they are optional or situational; use the PAYE calculator to include them.
