This table shows how much of a New Zealand salary you actually take home after tax, for eleven common salary levels from $30,000 to $200,000 a year, using the 2026/27 tax rates. Rather than asking you to enter figures, it works as a ready reference: find the gross salary closest to yours and read across to see the PAYE income tax owed, the ACC earners levy, and the Independent Earner Tax Credit where it applies, alongside the resulting take-home pay shown as an annual and a weekly figure. Each row also gives an effective tax rate, the share of that salary lost to tax and levies overall, so you can see how the tax burden grows through the brackets. The figures use the same engine as our PAYE calculator, so if your salary falls between two rows, plug it into that tool for an exact result. Note that these numbers cover only PAYE tax, the ACC levy and the IETC; they exclude KiwiSaver contributions and student loan repayments, since these are optional or situational. Use this page to gauge take-home pay at different salary bands, compare the effect of a pay rise, or see how the effective rate shifts across income levels. Figures are indicative and for planning only, so confirm your exact position with Inland Revenue or a payroll professional.

PAYE income tax uses the 2026/27 brackets: 10.5% up to $15,600, 17.5% to $53,500, 30% to $78,100, 33% to $180,000, and 39% above. The ACC earners levy is 1.75% of liable earnings, capped at $156,641. The Independent Earner Tax Credit is included where the salary qualifies ($24,000 to $70,000, abating above $66,000). KiwiSaver and student loan are not deducted here, since they are optional or situational; use the PAYE calculator to include them.
