How to Convert Dimes to Dollars

A dime is a United States coin worth 10 US cents. Because there are 100 cents in a dollar and each dime is worth 10 cents, there are exactly 10 dimes in one dollar. The conversion formula is:

• Dimes to dollars: divide by 10. Example: 35 dimes / 10 = $3.50
• Dollars to dimes: multiply by 10. Example: $3.50 x 10 = 35 dimes

NZ Context: No Dimes in New Zealand

New Zealand's coin system does not include a dime. Current New Zealand coins are 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents, $1 and $2. Coincidentally, the NZ 10 cent coin has the same face value as a US dime, but the two are not interchangeable currencies.
