Tax Calculator NZ

This New Zealand tax calculator turns your gross income into your real take-home pay, bringing income tax, the ACC earners levy, KiwiSaver and student loan together in one place for the 2025/26 year. New Zealand uses a tiered PAYE system, where only the income that falls in each band is taxed at that band's rate, so a pay rise never costs you money overall, it just means the top slice is taxed a little higher. You enter your annual gross income, optionally choose a KiwiSaver contribution rate and tick student loan if you have one, and the calculator works out the income tax across the brackets, adds the ACC earners levy that funds injury cover, subtracts your KiwiSaver contribution and any student loan repayment, and shows what actually lands in your account. You can view the result per year, month, fortnight or week to match how you are paid. This makes it a single hub for the most common New Zealand pay questions: how much tax you pay, how a pay rise flows through, what KiwiSaver costs you now, and what your true take-home is. The figures use the 2025/26 rates and thresholds and are an estimate, not tax advice; your payslip may differ slightly due to tax codes and rounding. Enter your income to see your take-home pay straight away.

$
$53,455
take-home pay (after tax, ACC, KiwiSaver and student loan)
PAYE income tax$13,221
ACC levy$1,225
KiwiSaver$2,100
Student loan$0

Based on 2025/26 brackets, the ACC earners levy (1.75% to the maximum liable income) and a 12% student loan rate above the annual threshold. Excludes Working for Families and IETC. Estimate only, not tax advice.

How it works

The calculator applies the 2025/26 tax brackets to your income, adds the ACC earners levy on income up to the maximum liable amount, then subtracts your KiwiSaver contribution and any student loan repayment of 12 percent on income above the annual threshold. What remains is your take-home pay, shown for your chosen period.

Worked example

On 70,000 dollars with 3 percent KiwiSaver and no student loan, PAYE is about 13,221 dollars and the ACC levy about 1,225 dollars, with KiwiSaver of 2,100 dollars, leaving a take-home of roughly 53,455 dollars a year.
