Housing costs across Tasman
Tasman is the district around Motueka, Richmond and Golden Bay, reported separately from neighbouring Nelson despite the two functioning as one area for most practical purposes. Horticulture, forestry, aquaculture and tourism dominate, and the district has a high share of seasonal work and a growing retired population.
Read Tasman and Nelson together. They are one place to anyone who lives there and two regions to the statistics, and their figures differ enough that using either alone will mislead. Seasonal work makes the income figures here lower than the housing figures would suggest.
