Win rate is the share of sales opportunities that you actually close, and it is one of the clearest measures of how effective your sales process really is. This calculator takes the number of deals you won and the total number of opportunities you worked, then returns your win rate as a percentage along with the number of deals lost. The inputs are simple, the count of closed won deals and the count of all opportunities that reached a decision, and the output is the percentage of those that turned into customers. Founders, sales managers and revenue operations teams across New Zealand watch win rate closely because it drives almost everything downstream. It tells you how much pipeline you need to hit a target, since a lower win rate means you must generate more opportunities to land the same number of deals, and it feeds directly into pipeline coverage and forecasting. A rising win rate can signal better qualification, sharper messaging or a stronger product, while a falling one is an early warning that something in the process needs attention. A few practices keep the figure meaningful. First, only count opportunities that reached a clear win or loss, not deals still in progress, because including open deals understates the true rate. Second, segment your win rate by lead source, deal size or sales rep, as blended numbers can hide a weak channel or a standout performer. Third, track it as a trend over several periods rather than reacting to a single quarter, since small samples bounce around. Pair win rate with sales cycle length and pipeline coverage to understand not just how often you win, but how quickly and with how much effort.
Win rate = deals won / total opportunities. Estimate only, not financial or tax advice.
The calculator divides the number of deals you won by the total number of opportunities and shows it as a percentage. The deals lost figure is simply the total minus the wins, giving you both sides of the result.
With 18 deals won out of 60 total opportunities, dividing 18 by 60 gives 0.3, which is a win rate of 30.0 percent. The remaining 42 opportunities were lost.
