This nether portal calculator converts Minecraft coordinates between the Overworld and the Nether so your portal pairs link exactly where you want them. The Nether compresses horizontal distance at a ratio of 8 to 1: every block you walk there equals eight blocks in the Overworld, which is why nether highways are the fastest way to travel between distant bases. To make a pair of portals link cleanly you need to build the second portal at the converted coordinates, not just somewhere nearby, and that is the fiddly part this tool removes. Pick the direction of the conversion, enter the X, Y and Z coordinates from your debug screen (F3 on Java Edition, or the coordinates toggle on Bedrock), and the calculator divides X and Z by 8 for Overworld to Nether, or multiplies by 8 for the return trip. The Y coordinate is never scaled, so a portal at Y 64 matches Y 64, although anything above the Nether roof at Y 128 cannot be reached without exploits. Players use this before digging a portal room, planning a hub with tunnels to each base, or repairing a link that keeps dumping them at the wrong portal. Only X and Z are scaled by 8; the Y coordinate stays the same in both dimensions. Overworld to Nether results are rounded down to whole blocks, matching how the game converts coordinates.
Minecraft maps the two dimensions at a fixed 8 to 1 horizontal ratio. Going from the Overworld to the Nether, the game divides your X and Z coordinates by 8 and rounds down to the nearest whole block; going from the Nether to the Overworld it multiplies X and Z by 8. The Y coordinate passes through unchanged in both directions. When you step into a portal, the game converts your position, then searches for an existing portal near that converted point: about 16 blocks each way in the Nether and about 128 blocks each way in the Overworld on Java Edition. If it finds one inside the search box it sends you there, otherwise it creates a new portal at the nearest safe spot. That is why two portals built at precisely converted coordinates always link to each other, while a casually placed portal can hijack a link from hundreds of Overworld blocks away.
Your Overworld base portal sits at X 1000, Y 64, Z -1000. Divide X and Z by 8: 1000 / 8 = 125 and -1000 / 8 = -125, so you build the matching Nether portal at X 125, Y 64, Z -125. Checking the reverse direction, a Nether portal at 125, 64, -125 multiplied by 8 gives exactly 1000, 64, -1000, so the pair links both ways. If a mate's base is 1,600 blocks further along the X axis at X 2600, its Nether portal belongs at X 325, only 200 blocks of nether tunnel from yours, which shows why an 8 to 1 nether highway beats walking the Overworld every time.
