Multi-Policy Bundle Saving Calculator

This calculator shows how much you could save by bundling several insurance policies with one provider in New Zealand, turning a headline discount percentage into a real dollar saving. Most insurers reward customers who hold multiple policies, typically house, contents and car, with a multi-policy discount of somewhere around five to fifteen percent off the combined premium, and the more policies you bring under one roof, the larger that discount tends to be. You add up the premiums you currently pay across your separate policies, enter the bundle discount your insurer is offering, and the calculator works out the bundled premium and the saving, both for the year and projected over five years so you can see the cumulative effect. A word of caution though: a discount applied to a high base premium can still leave you paying more than buying each policy separately from the cheapest insurer for that risk, so the smart move is to compare the bundled price against the best individual quotes, not to be dazzled by the discount alone. Bundling also brings convenience, one renewal date and one place to call, which has its own value. Use the figure to judge whether the bundle genuinely beats shopping each policy around.

Compare the bundled price against the best separate quotes; a discount on a high premium is not always the cheapest overall. Estimate only.

How it works

The calculator applies your bundle discount to the combined premium to find the bundled price, then the yearly saving is the difference. The five-year figure simply multiplies the annual saving by five, ignoring premium changes, to show the cumulative benefit.

Worked example

If your separate policies total 3,000 dollars a year and the bundle discount is 10 percent, the bundled premium is 2,700 dollars, a saving of 300 dollars a year, or about 1,500 dollars over five years.
