This calculator works out your business's EBITDA, Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation, a measure of how the core operations are performing before financing costs and non-cash accounting charges are taken into account. It matters because lenders, investors and valuers often look past bottom line profit to EBITDA when assessing lending capacity, business value or performance against other companies, since it strips out differences caused by debt levels, tax position and depreciation policy. You enter revenue and cost of goods sold to get a gross profit figure, then add operating costs one by one: rent or lease, supplies and stationery, utilities, vehicle, travel and accommodation, and salary and wages, which the calculator totals as total operating expenses. From there it works out net operating profit before taxes, subtracts a taxation expense figure to show net operating profit after taxes, then adds back depreciation, interest, amortisation and tax to arrive at EBITDA. Every field updates live as you type, so gross profit, total expenses, net profit before and after tax, and the final EBITDA figure all recalculate together. Keep every figure GST exclusive, as GST is not part of this calculation. Because EBITDA leaves out real costs like interest and depreciation, treat the result as an indicative operating measure, and check it against your actual financial statements before using it for lending or valuation decisions.
