Disposable Income Calculator NZ 2026
This calculator works out your true disposable income by bringing every source of income and every category of expense into one worksheet, rather than relying on a rough guess of what is left over each pay cycle. You enter income under remuneration (salary, wages, allowances, commission and subsidies) and deductions (PAYE, ACC, KiwiSaver, student loan, fringe benefit tax, retirement annuity and other deductions), which the calculator combines into your net remuneration. You then add other income such as rental property, dividends, child support and pension payments, and list your outgoings under two groups: operational expenses (groceries, utilities, insurance, rates, vehicle costs, memberships and more) and financing expenses (mortgage or rent repayments, credit card and personal loan repayments, and other financing costs). The calculator totals each section automatically and returns your net disposable income, the amount left once every deduction and expense has been covered. Enter figures consistently, either all monthly or all annual, for an accurate result, and update the fields whenever your income or costs change. Use the result to see how much genuine spare cash you have for savings, investing or debt repayment, and to spot which expense categories are taking the biggest bite out of your pay. The figures you get out are only as accurate as the figures you put in, so treat the result as an indicative guide rather than an exact figure.
