What Is the 16:10 Aspect Ratio?

The 16:10 aspect ratio describes the proportional relationship between the width and height of a rectangle, where the width is 16 units for every 10 units of height. It simplifies to 8:5 in lowest terms. As a decimal, the ratio is 1.6, meaning width divided by height always equals 1.6.

This ratio became the standard for laptop displays and many desktop monitors in the mid-2000s.
